The emerging Northern band shine on their expansive new double-release

As ambitious debut releases go, exciting young UK band Crescent have really set a precedent with their sprawling, just over 12 minute long double release titled Milogather Parts 1 & 2, showcasing the broad spectrum of their artistry and appeal with two seamlessly connecting tracks that are packed full of heart, intensity and emotional weight.

‘Milogather Part 1’ feels like the calm before the storm in a lot of ways, rhythm-driven and psychedelic and built with the kind of restraint and composure that feels easy to get swept up in, saturated full of thoughtful passages and bluesy rhythms that do an incredible job of establishing their dynamic style.

The ante is then upped on the more fiery ‘Milogather Part 2’, with a brooding sense of tension created immediately and hinting at an emotional imbalance that it will eventually give way to, making for a monster of a track that pays off all of the atmospheric build up that has come before it. The wailing vocals and hypnotic instrumentation make for a listening experience that is packed full of catharsis and strength, showcasing a powerful side to the band that feels all the more rewarding having stuck with the journey as it has progressed along the way.
