The emerging trio make a brash statement on their cutting debut single
Armed with an aggressive punk rock appeal and the brash, DIY edge that comes with it, wonderfully named Brighton Queer-Punk renegades Daffodildos take a stand against the corporate weaponisation of pride month and the way that big companies adopt the message of “inclusivity” in order to ultimately benefit themselves.
As the track defiantly states, being queer and supporting the cause is more than a once a year job, and their emphatic style and the raucous, lo-fi approach of the sound gives it a real grassroots kind of authenticity that almost evokes the spirit of a protest or rally. The track has a volatile and powerful feel to it throughout, and it is refreshing to hear real punk bands emerging and using their sound and platform to champion real issues and causes, especially as the political landscape seems to keep uncontrollably sliding towards the right.
