With the release of the project’s debut single ‘I Don’t Need You (Someday)’, Paula Laubach, the brains behind Daph Veil, has offered the first glimpse into her genre-defying and unique approach that sees her planning to collaborate with a variety of musicians to create an expansive array of different tracks and sounds.
Her first release is a brooding, dark wave-inspired release that has this gorgeously atmospheric feel to it throughout that feels as captivating as it does engrossing. There is a haunting undercurrent that sits beneath the track and keeps things feeling intense throughout, while the Rebecca Price-written lyrics burn with an emotional resonance and guile that just adds to how immersive and transfixing the experience feels as a whole.
