Indie pop artist dd walker returns with the nostalgic sound of ‘like you’. The new single follows the release of last year’s debut EP Malibu.
Describing the track as “an end-of-summer love song”, ‘like you’ channels all your favourite earmarks of the 80s. Propelled by a driving rhythmic guitar riff and decorated with bright twangs, the track is hooked with catchy harmonies and falsetto coos.
“This song broke a two year writers block,” explains walker. “I was thinking about what it’ll feel like going back to a live show and walking into a club, to a band opening their set and what I would really want to hear coming into a loud room for the first time, and the guitar line jumped into my head pretty fully formed.
“The whole song had this escapist / romantic edge that feels removed from all of the 2020 noise,” he continues. “I wanted to create a record that feels like an escape and a reality where some romantic and emotionally over the top songs can exist without those external pressures”.
