‘Hero’ is a more narrative-led track from exciting post-punk outfit DEADLETTER

Earlier this year, hotly-tipped Nice Swan Records act DEADLETTER released ‘Pop Culture Connoisseur’, a track that became an instant classic at CLOUT despite requiring me to have to learn how to spell the word connoisseur.

On its follow up, ‘Hero’, the outfit take a more narrative-based approach, telling the fictionalised tale of a man desperate for some recognition and accomplishment in life, deciding that the best way to go about this is by causing a disaster to save his sense of self-worth. As you’d expect from DEADLETTER at this point, the performances are all impossibly tight and Zac Lawrence’s vocals feel as cutting and uncompromisingly acerbic as Ian Curtis in his pomp. Nice Swan have a knack for sourcing the most seismic and explosive artists from in and around the UK, and with DEADLETTER they have another outfit with the potential to pop off, and at the very least cause quite the uproar wherever they pop up.

Lead singer Zac elaborates on the track;

The fictional story of Hero raises the question of how far a human would go to prove their worth in a world crammed with difficult expectations and ever mounting pressure. It’s an extreme example, but we hope there’s a level of relatability.”
