The track is just the third single from the rapidly rising duo.
Having emerged out of Manchester earlier this year with their debut single ‘Come Over’, alternative duo Dirty Blonde have done a great job of establishing an impactful and personality-filled sound that is filled with vibrancy and life.
The latest showcase of this is their fun new single ‘Don’t Cry (It Doesn’t Suit You’), a track that still packs a grungy, rugged edge despite giving a glimpse into a softer side of the outfit. The track’s thoughtful narrative takes on people who fake remorse and look to manipulate people into feeling sympathy for them while having no intention of changing their ways or behaviours, and this emphatic and defiant stance from Dirty Blonde pairs really nicely with the more impactful, driving facets of their sound. The range and scope of the band, tipped by some as the future of UK alternative rock, is broadened through this track, highlighting the versatility and breadth of emotions and styles that they are capable of incorporating into their sound. With just three tracks to their name, Dirty Blonde are already carving their name into the UK music scene, and we can’t wait to see how else they continue to explore and develop their charismatic sound.
Speaking of the track, they say, “We’ve had this song tucked away for over a year. At first, I was a bit hesitant to include it as a ‘Dirty Blonde’ song as it’s noticeably quite different, but after sharing it with the band we made the decision to take it to the studio and incorporate it into our live set. ‘Don’t Cry’ is a slight departure from our usual energetic sound, offering a more personal experience. This song is a blend of different styles, drawing inspiration from various sources, but somehow it all comes together.”
