The track is the fourth single of a really encouraging 2024 for the rising grunge pop band
Disguising the deeper meaning of their lyrics and songs with happy chords and upbeat melodies is something that Surrey’s Dude Safari are more than happy to admit they do, and it is near enough impossible to not find yourself happily swaying along to the infectious nature of their distinctive grunge pop sound even once you already have this information, such is the engrossing nature of their style.
Latest single ‘Love Me Like You Want Me’ is a prime example of this, with the band searching for some kind of validation and a self-esteem boost from anywhere throughout the thoughtful and relatable new release. Once the punchy rhythms and fun nature of the sound take a hold of you though, it creates this really fun duality of feelings and emotions that feels as confounding as it is relentlessly fun and dynamic. People often tend to mask how they really feel or provide little distractions from the truth of how bleak things can sometimes be, and this track and their sound in general makes for a really nice sonic representation of that, while also just making for some really memorable and rousing tunes that leave a lasting impression on you as a listener.
Regarding the single Dude Safari vocalist, songwriter and lead guitarist Jamie Tipson explains, “I always try to hide the deeper meaning behind the lyrics amongst a jumble of happy chords and an upbeat melody. In ‘LMLYWM’ the undertones are about self belief, self esteem and self worth, well the lack of it. It’s hard to back your work sometimes if you don’t completely believe in yourself. I guess this is why as creators we feel a sense of comfort in another’s opinion of our work. Like everything in life we all want someone to love us or love what we do.”
