The track is from the alluring artist’s new EP of the same name.
Immersive indie pop talent Ellie Moon is an artist who has created a sound and aesthetic that feels entirely her own, bubbling with an incessant sense of fun and the artist’s alluring personality and appeal.
Her latest single ‘Bad TV’ is part of her new EP of the same name, and continues to establish this aforementioned sense of fun and charm. The track was written during the early stages of the pandemic, and its fun nature and expressive charm feels like a far cry from the dreary era of the time, with the track exploring this sense of monotonousness and the stark contrast between our reality and TV shows that felt worlds apart from our new reality (or often any reality). From its dreamy synth-laden instrumental to its unrelenting sense of catchiness, the track continues to highlight Liverpool-born and Madrid-raised as one of modern pop’s most underrated talents, and it seems like a matter of when, not if, the artist starts to really take the scene by storm.
“I wrote this song about a month into the first lockdown in 2020, I was really stuck in that Netflix limbo binge watching three seasons of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills in less than 24 hours, not cute. I ended up living vicariously through all of these rich women on the TV having nowhere else to go and reminiscing on life pre-lockdown.” Ellie says of the track.
“But instead of wallowing I wrote this song as a comfort anthem to assure myself that what we see on the TV isn’t always real and that it’s okay to take some time out to feel sorry for yourself, curl up and watch some bad TV.”
