The track is from the Yorkshire artist’s upcoming new EP God Help Me Now
Always capable of captivating audiences through her sound, whether through upbeat indie pop bops or heartfelt and poignant ballads, Yorkshire’s Ellur has long been celebrated throughout the UK and beyond for the lasting impression that her sound leaves on you, and her latest single ‘Your Dog’ might just be her most resonating and moving to date.
The track sees the artist delving into her experience in a past relationship in cathartic and moving fashion, exploring the way that it made her felt with a vulnerable honesty and charm that feels compelling throughout. Despite its personal nature, listeners who have been through similar experiences will find it easy to attach themselves to the emotion and energy that radiates from it as the artist exorcises these demons emerging from her rear view. The track is every bit as compelling and thoughtful as the artist has demonstrated she is capable of, and has us looking forward to the release of her new EP God Help Me Now, set for release next year.
Speaking about her latest release Ellur explained: “I played a festival a few months ago and saw CMAT headline and she said on stage ‘If somebody’s hurt you and you’re a writer, you need to milk it as much as you possibly can. ‘That night I got home and wrote this song about my experience with an ex. This song isn’t meant to seem petty though; it’s just an exploration of pain and turning my experience of pain into art and something to celebrate. When we recorded the track I was listening to a lot of Big Thief, Jeff Buckley and Charlotte Cornfield which has really influenced the sound.”
