The track is the second single from the emerging artist following the release of ‘Kingdom’
A new release that is packed full of emotional resonance and deeply personal songwriting, Emily Pegram continues to showcase a thoughtful and absobring sound with her second single ‘Paper Town’, building on her well-recieved ‘Kingdom’ from earlier this year.
The new single sees the artist looking at the worlds and scenarios that we can often create in our heads and how hard it can be to let go of them and essentially lose them, even if we never really had them. The composure and heart that she pours into her vocal performance does a really great job of articulating this, and her stripped-back indie pop soundscape really allows the emotion to flow through the sound, making for a resonating listen that really strikes a chord with you as a listener throughout.
“‘Paper Town’ is about how painful it can be to lose something even if it never really existed in the first place,” says Pegram. “Sometimes no amount of care can force something to be real if it just doesn’t exist, and no amount of pretending can stop the illusion from falling apart.”
