Emmrose is no stranger to tugging on heartstrings with her affecting and emotionally rousing sound, but her latest single ‘The Gallows’ may just be one of her most potent and resonating to date, with the artist exploring her feelings of loneliness when living in one of the busiest places in the world.

The catalyst for this was the artist seeing her ex and his new girlfriend in a chance encounter, these feelings and emotions that flare up in this situations feel like something of a universal experience, and vulnerability and rawness of the artists writing are something that are sure to resonate with many. Musically, the track is packed full of lush sonic progressions that showcase the artist’s layered vocals and endearing melodies, building to a cathartic climax, as the artist continues to elevate herself and grow as an artist.

“I was walking down a street in NYC, saw my ex-boyfriend holding hands with a girl, and it was not even a busy street, right by a park. It was just that moment that the song was born, because of the way he walked right by me, with no real acknowledgment, and seemed to give me a glare while passing by.” Emmrose says of the track.

“No matter where I go or how I try and move on from the people of my past- their ghosts keep following me, and always at the worst moments. It can honestly make me feel so paranoid, always thinking that these horrible people will always be there, no matter how much you change and no matter the new good people you surround yourself with.”
