The track is the third single from an upcoming new EP from the artist
Earning acclaim for the dark and experimental nature of her distinctive pop sound, UK artist FHUR has an intense and atmospheric allure that feels fiercely exciting and fresh every time that the artist releases a new addition to her collection of sounds. Her latest single ‘Cortisone’ is the third from an upcoming new EP from the artist, and continues to push her sound to uncomfortable depths.
The track has an industrial feel to it throughout that adds a really anxious and claustrophobic tone to the sound, while packing a wildly exciting and unpredictable edge throughout. The track evokes the spirit of a gritty underground club, something that ties in nicely with a narrative about somebody lost trying to find their way home on a cold, unforgiving night, both figuratively and literally. The cutting edge appeal of the sound and the artist’s fervent and intense vocal delivery makes for compelling listening throughout, continuing to highlight the unique charm and drive of an artist firmly in her own lane.
FHUR explains: “’Cortisone’ is ultimately about a person you go to when you don’t want to think about yourself or a painful situation. They’re like a shelter but also a way to hide. The rhythm and ambience of the song tries to express the rush and urge to try and get out of one’s head to finally breathe again with this person. It’s one of the most lyrically bold songs I’ve written so far alongside Tricep (my previous single) and I love that it takes me out of my comfort zone.”
