This is a “music-first” experiment…
A “music-first” experiment by five vocal artists who joined forces, ‘Circular Birds’ is an arresting new single by the collective Forêt Noire. Coming together to combine five separate musical ideas, the troupe shared no information about what a conceptual outcome would be and instead trusted their sonic talents first and foremost.
From beatboxing to choral flourishes and more contemporary performances, none of the contributors knew what the other was delivering until the song was ready. The result is a compulsive and immediate piece that, ultimately, works. Skittish beats and moody bass tones give the track an immediate drama, whilst all vocal elements are innovative and exciting. Who knows what they’ll produce next.
“None of the vocal artists knew what the other was composing until the song was ready,” share Forêt Noire. “The inspiration for the song was also given by the collaborative way in which everyone wrote the lyrics and composed the song without having any exact direction.
“Amazingly enough, all cuts complete each other into a melodic puzzle that draws a parallel between humans, birds and life as an unidentified flying object,” they continue. “A musical puzzle recreated on a common subconscious level by artists set apart through distance and time.”
‘Circular Birds’ is available now.
