London-based indie folk singer-songwriter Fran Lusty‘s unique blend of lush, engaging songwriting and thoughtful storytelling has singled her out as a talent who’s distinctive presentation has singled her out as someone offering something a little different and exciting.
The artist, balancing a PhD in English Literature with her music, has a tendency to intertwine her two passions, and her latest single ‘Flight of Your Mind’ is a perfect, if sombre, realisation of this. The track was inspired by the diaries of British modernist author Virginia Woolf and how they recorded her mind taking flight, more specifically about her husband finding them and the feelings of helplessness and loss that he would have felt. The track encapsulates this feeling perfectly, with the artist’s melancholy, stripped-back sound serving as the perfect backdrop for the story. ‘Flight of You Mind’ does a really great job of showcasing exactly what makes Fran feel special, and even without the depth and complexities of its narrative, it makes for a really engaging piece of indie folk in its own right.
