The artist continues to flex his strength as an artist and producer on his latest single.

Bursting with excited, kinetic energy and bass-driven charm, latest Garvie single ‘Default’ weighs in on the hotly-debated AI conversation with an infectious sense of irreverence and fun that feels decidedly human and real.

The track is literally packed full of creativity throughout, from its bit-crushed synths to its chaotic garage rock soul, ‘Default’ feels like a celebration of a range of different styles and ideas and packages them together in a way that feels not only cohesive, but endlessly vibrant and captivating throughout. The idea that AI may make us all obsolete, especially when it comes to things like writing and making music is a terrifying one, but it is the heart and soul that goes into work like this outside the box eccentricity and free-spirited charm that reinforces the value and need for artists and producers like Garvie, with the track’s fun appeal and captivating rhythms matched only by its authenticity and relatable edge.

“I like to make music that nods to the past in a fun way whilst sounding modern at the same time.” Garvie explains. “While it’s fairly tongue-in-cheek lyrically, Default is ultimately about feeling obsolete and replace-able in a relationship, which is why it uses quite a lot of computer-based references. It’s also got a lot of parallels with all of the recent developments in AI, which have definitely made me feel like I might be obsolete soon as a human artist!”
