half of a rainbow is the art pop project of Berlin musician Johannes Harder, with the artist putting his own experimental twist on the genre while still maintaining a really fun melodic pop edge.

His third release is ‘poison in e major’, a grungy and often dark single about the desperate need for cigarettes and alcohol to function that so many have. There is a really unique feel to the sound that borrows a lot of aspects from around the worlds or pop and rock, and this coupled with its distinctive one-take video makes for a package that feels completely unlike anything you’re likely to hear any time soon.

According to half of a rainbow, his relationship to drugs was the main inspiration for the song: “I think that most of us are addicted to something. The song describes our constant need to consume, whatever that might be. That’s why I simply called it poison.”
