Keep on running.
‘head and heart’ is the latest release from Hawkns, a left-field indie pop rock outfit who have already made a splash with their first two releases ‘lights off’ and ‘sober’.
The track is packed full of youthful energy and dynamism, with the sheer rawness of frontman Hawkins French’s vocals providing their melodic sound with a cutting edge and sense of grit. There is a melding of classic and more contemporary sound here that feels both familiar but with a more modern twist and bite to it, making for a listening experience that feels welcoming but always packed with a sense of guile and freshness. With three releases under their belt now, Hawkns still haven’t missed, and we look forward to seeing what else the outfit have in store.
“The process of creating “Head and Heart” was a tough one for us.” Hawkns admit. “We wanted to make something that was true to our story and the sound that we had in our head. The song is about chasing your dreams even when it hurts and comes with sacrifice. All of the song’s lyrics also are based on real moments from our lives and our journey as a band chasing our dream together even when we felt like giving up at times. The last lyric “keep on running” is meant to leave listeners with a sense of hope.”
