The track follows the release of the duo’s excellent recent single ‘Reach Out’
Quickly establishing themselves as a vibrant and hard-hitting addition to the UK alternative rock scene, Brighton duo H_ngm_n are bringing the noise in emphatic fashion with a raft of releases that embody the spirit of nostalgic emo and pop punk while packing a fierce and modern edge that feels infectiously catchy and impactful.
Their latest single ‘Spotlight’ is a punchy and dynamic affair that is packed full of memorable melodies and the kind of carefree charm that makes the best of the genre pop and feel so dynamic, making for a really rousing affair. The track does a really great job of towing the line between feeling hard-hitting and heavy while maintaining those melodic sensibilities and the sense of fun that is easy to gravitate towards, echoing the feel of bands like The Wonder Years and State Champs in the process while having their own distinctive edge.
Drummer James Martin on the release – “Spotlight is out now! This was the first song we had finished for the album, written during lockdown, and it perfectly captures what h_ngm_n are about – short, punchy, and driven by hard-hitting drums and a driving rhythm guitar. We’ve been playing this one live for just over a year now, testing where it fits in our set. It’s one of our favourite songs to play and really gets the crowd going. We hope you love it as much as we do — it’s the perfect way to kick off our debut LP!”
