The track follows the release of ‘Battleground’ earlier in the year.
Leeds alternative rock trio Honeycub have been gradually making waves over the last few years thanks to their slick melding of 90s grunge with a more contemporary hard rock approach. The result has often been a sound that feels both classic and familiar while maintaining a slick, modern cutting edge, making for some really cool moments and tracks.
The latest of which is their new single ‘Imitation Heart’, a track that feels both poised and explosive, ready to burst into life at a moments notice. The outfit’s sound has never felt more layered and rich than on the track, with its sharp production clearly being something that was prioritised while putting the track together. Complete with their tight instrumentation and cool hybrid sound, Honeycub feel impactful and melodic in equal measure on the release, with that priceless blend of heaviness and composure that feels effortless. ‘Imitation Heart’ is an ode to outsiders in society and the suffering they endure to fit in with the crowd and how they should instead choose to stick out and embrace their true selves, and bands like Honeycub, Royal Blood and Cleopatrick are doing a great job of keeping guitar music alive in the modern age and taking it to new heights.
