‘Kafkaesque’ is a candid and thoughtful new release from Hope Whitelock

Hope Whitelock is an artist who has an immediate appeal thanks to the realness of her writing and sound, with her affable, conversational tone feeling both relatable and packed full of fun moments of bluntness and charm.

A wonderful example of this lies within the artist’s new single ‘Kafkaesque’, a bitter rebuttal to all of the people that told the artist that she needs to travel the world and “find herself”. The artist’s insights into her thoughts and feelings feel interesting and engaging throughout the track, and the track’s lush, laid-back soundscape provides a great juxtaposition to an artist describing her life unraveling and and declaring themselves a bad person.

“This song is about all the people who constantly told me I “had to travel” and that I would “find myself”.” Hope says of the track. “1. I’m poor. travelling is crazy hard when you don’t have any money and you’re from rural america. 2. I don’t like myself, and I don’t need to travel the world to find that out.”
