The track is the one of a plethora of recent releases to come off the prolific band’s conveyor of tracks
“I wrote this song with my friends when we went bowling and to monster mini golf. I took the conversation and lifted it nearly verbatim into the sordid song you’re listening to now.” Drew Danburry says of new Icarus Phoenix single ‘Love’. A track that you may have thought was about something else if we hadn’t told you that right out of the gate.
The cult band do seem to be deliberately inclining you to believe that something more sordid and dirty is going on in the lyrics of this song, but as long-time fans we’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and take them for their word that it is nothing more than an innocent conversation. As for the track itself, it has a moody and mid-tempo feel to it stylistically that puts the lyrics centre-stage, building up momentum and a head of steam before it kind of just ends abruptly. We are making no assumptions to what the track ending abruptly and unexpectedly could be a reference to.
