Their latest release ‘Promises’ sees the outfit breaking their usual rule of not really writing songs about anything in particular to address the UKs partygate scandal. This makes for an emphatic track that echoes the thoughts an opinions of many living in the UK and keeping an eye on the goings on in parliament, with the track’s more raucous moments providing a moment of catharsis for those frustrated with the current state of affairs. ‘Promises’ is a culturally relevant and sonically pleasing track that does a great job of articulating the feelings of many, both within its lyrics and its sound. Not that anything that any of us (or Boris Johnson for that matter) do or say is going to make a difference to the status quo anyway.
