The duo looks destined for much, much bigger things.

Leeds duo In The Morning Lights have a well established brand of colourful, effortlessly cool alternative pop that continues to showcase just how much of a bigger platform it deserves with every coming release.

‘Gemini’, their latest release, is a bouncy and endlessly engaging track that feels as thoughtful as it does summery and fun. The track explores themes like family and hard feelings, and the relationships that we have with people due to reasons such as family and proximity, that we can’t really control or choose. There is an impossibly cool feel to this sound, an incredibly produced and conceived pop banger that wouldn’t feel out of place among the loftiest of company. In The Morning Lights feel like an act with a world of potential, and can only be one of West Yorkshire’s best kept secrets for so long.

Speaking on ‘Gemini’, Matilde explains: “We wrote Gemini during the first lockdown. That day I had a phone call with my mum, which quickly escalated into a fight. In the session, we talked about how easy it is to become confrontational with people we love because of how unfiltered those relationships are. ‘Gemini’ is about love that isn’t chosen and that can get unkind. We wanted to write a song to explore both sides of this feeling.”
