On her stirring and thoughtful sophomore single ‘narcissus’, emerging artist Izzy Pingrey continues to showcase the raw edge and vulnerable appeal of her sound, crafting intricate stories and endlessly engrossing melodies through her soft sound and immersive songwriting.

The new single has a quietly powerful feel to it throughout, with the artist taking a firmly empowering stance on one-way friendships and unreciprocated energy and pouring it into the endearing and fierce new release. Despite its stripped back arrangement, the character and charm of Izzy and her sound shines through on the release in emphatic fashion, creating a track that feels both intimate and cathartic through the potent nature of her words and the emotion and drive that informs her vocal performance. Following on from her stunning debut single ‘sick of it’, Izzy is rapidly making a name for herself as an exciting and memorable new artist, and it will be fun to see where else she takes her immersive songwriting and thoughtful sound.

“I wrote ‘narcissus’ after dealing with some friendship troubles.” Izzy says of the track. “I felt so overlooked, like I was just pouring my heart and soul into multiple relationships that didn’t reciprocate the love and care that I was giving. I’ve been interested in Greek mythology since I was a kid, and while I was ranting about some teenage drama I accidentally forgot to pronounce the T in ‘narcissist,’ and the rest just flowed out of me after that. I wrote ‘narcissus’ for myself and for anyone else who needs to think less about people who don’t think so much about them”.”
