The track is from the celebrated artist’s upcoming new album HELLFIRE BUMPER STICKER COWPUNCHING JEWBOY
Where his previous album the 🌍 is ending and i ❤️ u was an exploration of grief following the loss of both of his parents during lockdown, Jack Goldstein‘s follow up HELLFIRE BUMPER STICKER COWPUNCHING JEWBOY is a triumphant and anthemic new record that sees the artist transforming these feelings into strength and resilience, digging himself out of the hole that this left him in and finding liberation through rebuilding.
The lead single that has spawned from the album is ‘MUD MICE’, a track that feels like the catchiest and most infectious that Jack has released to date, inspired by the titular the half-dust, half-flesh creatures from Jewish folklore. The track has a distinctive feel to it throughout, part psychedelic, part country, while packed full of nostalgic pop appeal that feels both forward-thinking while voyaging back to classic sounds of the past to create something that feels effortlessly charming and alluring thanks to its sense of catharsis and calmness following the uncertainty and darkness of some of his previous work. The track is a great showcase of the project set to come, and the shift in mood is something that makes for really engrossing and powerful listening.
