With a range of influences including luminaries Johnny Cash, Rodriguez and Leonard Cohen, emerging British alt-folk artist Jacob Ifans is an artist who has immediately established himself as a distinctive talent with a unique sound and a warm, atmospheric appeal with the release of his debut single ‘Sun Don’t Shine’.

The artist was brought up in a musical farming family, something which has influenced his work and given it the unique flavour and personality that it has today, and this is readily apparent on his first release. The track has a slow-burning and almost brooding feel to it throughout as the artist explores his experiences living in a caravan in the depths of winter, but there is something nostalgic and subtly playful about his sound and how human and warm it feels that gives it a more multi-faceted and three-dimensional feel, and we can’t wait to see how he continues to expand upon it on future releases.

Jacob says of the track “I wrote ‘Sun Don’t Shine’ in the middle of winter while I was living in a caravan; each season was particularly felt, each storm and cold spell were ingrained in my day to day,”.
