The new release is the title track from her upcoming new LP
With the release of her defiant and empowering new single ‘Glitter up the dark’, Trans folk-rocker Jessye DeSilva utilises her moody and theatrical 80s inspired sound to craft an all-conquering and dynamic ballad about queer resilience and the kind of brightness and joy that we should look to tackle the adversity and struggle with, inspired by a late friend of the artist who encapsulated that ethos.
The artist’s marriage of the traditional and the theatrical within her sound makes for a listening experience that feels both familiar yet entirely her own, rooted in social issues and struggle, aiming to create a feeling of positivity and hope as a shield from these things through her rousing approach. ‘Glitter up the dark’ is a track that perfectly captures this, with its chorus imploring listeners to try to inject a little bit of colour and light into the world wherever they can, and hopefully create a world that is a little better to live in as a result.
