Boasting a sound that packs an abundance of both creativity and beauty, Josie Edie May has singled herself out as a fiercely unique artist who’s appeal lies in the personality and heart that is poured into her sound.

Her new single ‘Weeds’ is a perfect example of the charm that radiates from the artist, a track about feeling disconnected from people you love and maybe not always getting what you deserve, encapsulated by the poignant opening line “Sometimes the prettiest flowers are weeds”. The artist’s alluringly soft vocals provide a gorgeous atmosphere to the sound, alongside quirky sonic touches like flower heads played on a muted banjo and samples of flower stems being cut with scissors. ‘Weeds’ is a track that is stacked full of originality and lush appeal, but it is the universal, relatable nature of the narrative that really hits home and gives it such a cosy, resonating feeling.
