Characterised by the slick and smooth nature of his afrobeats sound and the thoughtful and immersive nature of his writing, Rising Trinidad and Tobago artist Kalpee is somebody who has established an expansive, genre-fluid appeal that has a transcendent and uplifting quality to it that resonates with listeners.

The artist’s latest single ‘Heaven So Far’, was inspired by Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act, a book written about how creativity can flow through
artists as a higher form of connection, and Kaplee attached his own experiences and guidance that he has found as a creative to this idea on the release. The result is a track that feels satisfyingly smooth and captivating throughout, flowing in a natural and absorbing way as the artist articulates the spiritual journeys that he embarks on through his sound.

“The book was sitting right there on my desk, and it sparked something. I lit a stick of palo santo, gave thanks for the blessing of being able to create music, and prayed for guidance. Almost instantly, the words began to pour out,” says Kalpee. “I wrote what I was truly feeling in that moment. No boxes, no filter, just honesty, and where the journey had brought me so far.”
