Oxford alternative 4-piece Kanadia are back with their new single ‘Wish Away My Time’, their first release since their 2021 EP Big Nothing.

The track the first on their upcoming follow up EP Distant Life. Contemplative and poised, ‘Wish Away My Time’ is a measured opening the release and one that highlights the maturity of the outfit. Grappling with the issue of feeling like you are wishing your time away and never being truly present to what is going on around you, the thoughtful new release is quite a subdued opening to the EP, but shows increasing glimpses of life as it progresses and develops. A rousing introduction to the EP and a shining sign of what is yet to come.

Singer James Bettis says “Over the course of time that I have been pursuing music, I have inadvertently let life pass me by. I’ve been so focused on future goals that I am frequently prone to fall in and out of stints of depression and anxiety. This song is the realisation that one day I will come to regret those wasted years. I think people from all different walks of life should relate to the song. Don’t we live in a society where the motto is to graft and save for an uncertain future at the cost of the present? We all treat life as if it’s some never ending to-do-list. I actually wrote the song before the pandemic, but once that happened it really hammered the song’s message home to me”
