On her expansive and richly textured and relatable new single ‘No One To Dream About’, Canadian artist Kate Trajan explores desire, and more specifically the abundance of desire that she has sometimes found herself with with nothing or nobody to channel it towards and find some kind of release for her sense of longing and need for something to capture her attention.

The gorgeously jazzy, bossa nova-esque rhythms just add to this sultry tone of the track, capturing this feeling of desire and longing through a captivating soundscape that always feels like it is gently urging you to get up and dance to the compelling nature of the sound and lose yourself within its rhythms. Being able to lose herself within something is unfortunately, the opposite of what the artist seems to be able to do within the narrative, but this playful and captivating sound feels like it might just be the next best thing for now to combat her grief and longing and distract her from a love that has passed her by.

“This song is an ode to desire, and a lament of its absence,” says Kate. “I wrote this while heartsick over the ending of a relationship and longing for the next object of affection to appear. No one I met could pique my interest in those sad months, hence ‘no one to dream about.’ I wanted the song to have a playful feel though, and the band really helped me capture that with a Bossa-esque rhythm that makes me want to dance around my kitchen with this on repeat.”
