The artist looks to make a defiant statement on her fourth release
With a personable, engaging and thoroughly fun and engaging sound, LA-based singer-songwriter Keni is already showing all of the hallmarks of a star in the making.
Latest release ‘Big Enough’ is the artist’s fourth and her most impactful and cathartic to date. Led by its whirring guitars and the singer’s powerful and emotive voice, the track is a scathing assessment of a certain man, and men in particular who seem to work to minimise or cheapen the achievements or efforts of women. The raucous alt-pop track is a powerful statement and one that supports its own message simply just by what a huge and memorable tune it is. Keni is a primed for bigger successes and tracks like this imply that its simply a case of when and not if.
“After bearing my soul to this guy who was wearing a Rick and Morty t-shirt and sporting unbrushed teeth, he started telling me that I should definitely have a backup plan, in a condescending way.” Keni Says of the track. “Coming from someone who couldn’t even keep a job, this was a huge slap in the face. I held my tongue because the pillow talk was plunging hard enough without my help. These types of conversations have been all too frequent, especially with men (unfortunately). There isn’t enough room or time for anyone who cheapens your dreams simply because they’re scared of going after their own. One of my favorite lines in Big Enough is “if you wanna be a rockstar then learn to play the guitar”. Hopefully that boy finally learned.’
