The track follows the release of ‘What Did This Love Cost?’ from late last year.

On her rousing new single ‘Low Bar’ that feels both instantly infectious and easy to resonate with and find relatable, Libby Thompson continues to showcase the soulful and intimate charm of her R&B-tinged alternative pop sound, balancing thoughtful raw emotion with catchy and immersive sensibilities to make for a sound that drips with both style and substance.

The immediate thing that sticks out on the track is the poise and power of the artist’s vocals, managing to feel inescapably smooth and composed while packing a deft emotional edge that feels endearing and raw. The Portland-based singer and songwriter explores the way that we often let ourselves get treated in relationships and the staggeringly low bar that we can often set for the people who come into our lives, and her potent vocals do a great job of echoing the emotion and poignant nature of the lyrics and making for a compelling listening experience.

“This song was definitely one of the most fun to make from my upcoming project.” Libby says of the single. “I feel like I’ve watched myself and so many of my friends get caught in these compromising relationships, where the standard of how you should be treated just gets lower and lower every day. I wanted to explore that in a playful and emotional way. It’s kind of like if that meme were a song— ‘Our expectations for you were low but HOLY FUCK’.”
