We do our best to try not to really think about 2020 or the pandemic now, but are more than happy to make an exception for emerging Brighton artist Lily Wolfe‘s gorgeous debut single ‘New Earth’. The track does a stellar job of showcasing the appeal of the artist, with the its stripped-back feel and thoughtful, poignant lyrics making for a captivating listening experience that feels more rousing than filled with dread.

There is a kind of shared experience that was lived within such a universal event that happened to everyone, and the artist does a great job of encapsulating the feelings of uncertainty and isolation that so many people went through. There is a real hopefulness that permeates the sound though, and the nuanced, almost conversational tone of the artist and her affable personality have us setting Lily Wolfe aside as someone to watch out for.
