Sarah Cosgrove’s melodic vocals and the thoughtful nature of her lyrics have often been a standout of Low Girl and their signature brand of electronic indie rock, and latest single ‘Pockets’ is a track that continues to highlight this penchant for deftness and introspective thinking.

The track boasts a colourful soundscape throughout that is packed with fun little quirks and interesting moments, as Sarah explores the things that we try to repress and hide away from ourselves that invariably find themselves finding a way back to the surface. The upbeat and vibrant nature of the sound does kind of dull the slow of such a harrowing and intense subject, but this darkness lies beneath the sound throughout and makes for a multi-faceted and endlessly interesting dynamic.

On the new single Low Girl say: “‘Pockets’ is about trying to repress something that constantly resurfaces. It’s all about the allure of the ‘what-if’ and it’s a rose-tinted way of viewing those possibilities. My life was all over the place when I wrote this track, and there was a real sense of anticipation and being on the edge of something.”

“I’m grappling with trying to figure out who this person I’ve bloomed into is, all the while trying to find some tangible light to look to. There’s an element of deluding yourself into believing in an impossible dream. I imagine this warm, settled imagery of the afternoon and how I feel like I never quite reach it. “
