The track sees the artist exploring darkness and internal struggle to powerful and absorbing effect
A track that has a really fierce sense of reverence and honesty that becomes apparent from the very moment that it starts, latest Luna Keller single ‘Holy’ is a potent exploration of the darkness that lives within us, with the artist touching on her own experiences with depression and the struggles that she has faced.
This makes for a compelling and atmospheric listening experienced that is layered full of depth and intrigue, armed with catchy melodies and some compelling moments but with a murkier undercurrent that leaves a gripping and lasting impression on you as a listener. This kind of nuance is what makes Luna Keller such a fierce and exciting songwriter, able to weave these powerful worlds within her sounds that can make us feel a plethora of emotions all at once, such is her mastery of her craft and the heart that she pours into her work.
“One of the hardest things to put into words for me is how depression after a while becomes the norm, the comfort zone in a strange way.” Luna says of the new single. “So much of my identity was focused on fighting it that the fight became a big part of how I perceived myself, sometimes even glorifying it to justify the path I’m on.”I’ve made suffering holy” – I let it define me. But the song also acknowledges that it’s not a sustainable way to live and that there’s nothing sacred about suffering – “I’m not holy” is the last line. I’m just human and I can embrace light again.”
