One of the more heartbreaking and raw releases from one of our favourite heartbreaking and raw artists, Mae Krell‘s ‘better than this’ is a track that continues to showcase the artist’s innate ability to craft these sounds and worlds that transport you to specific memories and places she has been in captivating fashion.
The track explores some of the artist’s anxieties when it comes to worrying about whether she is good enough for her partner or is capable of ever changing or growing into something more than she is now. ‘better than this’ has some really deeply personal and specific moments throughout but the overarching themes are ones that many of us will have grappled with and had to stuggle against in our lives, and the way that Mae articulates these thoughts and feelings makes for releases that feel as compelling and visceral as anything you’re likely to hear this year.
