The track is from the celebrated rising artist’s debut EP DAY JOB
With the release of her debut EP DAY JOB, rising star Maggie Andrew has continued to showcase a flair or the creative and varied, making for a vulnerable and experimentational collection of tracks that have truly cemented her status as one of the most exciting and dynamic emerging talents around.
One of the EP’s more powerful moments comes in the form of the single ‘About Us’, the track from the EP and one that sees the artist looking back over a past relationship and its deeply problematic nature. The cathartic nature of the sound and the artist’s impassioned vocals highlights the emotional resonance and gravity of the sound throughout, and will just heighten how relatable and sobering it feels for some listeners who have unfortunately been through similar things, but it makes for a really moving and dynamic statement from the artist, using her melodic and engrossing style to shine a light upon her experiences.
“‘About Us’ is a really important song to me.” Maggie added. “I wrote it in my bedroom one night around 2am. I was just sitting by the piano thinking about my experiences in a past relationship and basically just freestyled about it. Once I brought Carleton [Stone – Canadian singer-songwriter] into the mix it took another year and quite literally 12 versions of the song to get it finished but we did it, and I couldn’t be happier with it.”
