The track is the first release of 2022 for the rising Swedish artist.
On her lush new single ‘Neighborhood’, Stockholm artist Maja Kristina dissects the aftermath of a breakup, and the weird little things and politics that come with them, such as not wanting to return to certain places or relive certain experiences.
Musically, the track does a really nice job of creating this melancholy, often pensive feeling, with the artist’s soft and endearing vocals floating over a gorgeous soundscape for her to flourish on. ‘Neighborhood’ is a really thoughtful track that approaches breakups in a different way and provides another perspective to the inconvenience and damage caused. A really worthwhile release that showcases a softer and more considered side to the artist’s fun pop sound.
“For me, the track is about that ‘point of no return’ that comes from a breakup,” explains Maja. “You’ve built this world together in these familiar places – the little spots you have all these memories at, and then overnight they become out of bounds because they were your shared spots.”
