Las Vegas based 18-year-old Algerian-Muslim Chadha Nacer, better known as manic pixie has possibly delivered one of the most unsettling and exciting debut releases of 2021.
The track is slow burning and calculating, while never feeling tired or boring. Every step feels calculated and cold, with a foreboding sense of dread accosting it throughout. The magic in the track is in the way that you can pretty much disregard it as dreamy background music if you wish to, but the closer that you peer inside, the darker and more cerebral it becomes. An ambitious and yet deceptively simple debut release from an artist that we can’t wait to hear more from.
