The track is from the lauded artist’s new EP Eco-Fever.
Multi-talented electronic pop artist, producer, writer and musician Mari Dangerfield is someone who’s unique sound and appeal often makes for cinematic and atmospheric releases that burst with colour and charm.
One of these tracks is ‘Ruins’, a thoughtful track that utilises the artist’s powerful lyrical imagery and thoughtful soundscapes to craft a poignant message about both climate change, drawing parallels between the state of the earth and a faltering relationship that is crumbling thanks to similar levels of neglect and abuse. This thought-provoking writing pairs effortlessly with her catchy hooks and rich harmonies, showcasing the artist’s sheer sense of originality and organic charm, and making for a release that sticks with you for long after your exposure to it. ‘Ruins’ packs an impactful message while never veering too far from its accessible and fun bedroom pop sensibilities, continuing to highlight Mari Dangerfield’s rousing, distinctive style and the warmth of her sound.
“After going through a difficult experience, I hit a creative wall.” Mari explains. “For months, the only song I could get out of me was ‘Ruins.’ It was as if I had to create that piece of work to get myself through the hurt I was feeling.”
