For years now, Rama Lama records have been our favourite and most reliable source when it comes to finding the best of the weird and wonderful sounds to come out of Sweden, and another gem that we can now thank the label for are Mary Anne’s Polar Rig, an art-rock-fuzz-pop duo that are both weird and wonderful to the extreme.

The latest release from the outfit is ‘Dopamine Detox’, a restless and reckless track that feels far, far, far more melodic and catchy that it has any right to be. From its lopsided, fidgety structure to its anxious, snarling vocals, the track feels like an experiment to see how artsy and left-field a single can be while maintaining its captivating, accessible charm. The track is a maddening slice of brilliance from the outfit, just don’t expect to find anything particularly comfortable or safe once you immerse yourself in it.
