The artist continues to establish herself as one of the UK’s exciting emerging lights
Brighton based indie-pop newcomer Matilda Cole is an artist that has established her credentials with a slew of releases over 2021 following the release of her debut EP Milk Teeth.
Her latest release is ‘Halloween’, but rather than go the traditionally spooky route with the sound, it is a surprisingly slow burning, thoughtful and dreamy track that showcases everything that makes the artist so exciting. From her earthy, composed vocals to the its rousing, driving bassline, Matilda’s sound feels like it is ascending to new heights with every release, and is emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting talents.
“halloween has always been my favourite time of year. i start planning my costumes on november 1st, and force my family to carve pumpkins the second it’s october, so i wanted to write a song about how much i love halloween.” Matilda says of the track. “underneath it though, this song is about having to beg someone to be kind to you, and to spend time with you. about how you would do anything to make them stay, just so you’re not alone.”
