Following a few years without releasing new music, Stockholm alternative pop artist Matilda has returned in powerful fashion with her new single ‘Superpowers’, an all-encompassing and powerful new release that explores unrequited love and the vulnerability and strength that it takes to open up to somebody and express how you feel when you don’t know if you’ll get the reaction that you want.

Throughout the track, this melancholy nature does a great job of contrasting the vibrancy and power of the soundscape, giving it a very human and authentic feel that listeners can relate to and attach their own moments of disappointment and unrequited feelings to. The unattainable that is just out of your reach is something that many of us will have experienced, and this track does a great job of articulating these feelings and the situations surrounding them,

“That feeling when you can’t stop showering someone with compliments and just want to tell them about the incredible power they have over you – even though they don’t don’t feel the same – it’s one of the most humiliating experiences there is,” says Matilda. “It’s exposing and powerful, but also heavy and painful. Especially when it’s the first girl I’ve ever dared to open up to.”
