The self-directed video does a wonderful job of capturing the bleak weirdness of the track.
Fiercely unique UK alt-pop producer, singer and songwriter Maya Yenn has done an incredible job of establishing her killer sound since her emergence back in 2021, and now has put a thought-provoking video to her excellent single ‘Better Luck Next Time’. Always more than happy to provide us with something weird and thought-provoking to sink our teeth into, the artist has duly obliged with this fun new offering.
The narrative-heavy track comes with a suitably theatrical, self-directed music video from the artist, bringing its dystopian narrative to life with an array of bright colours, slick choreography and even more of the artist’s infectiously unique personality and charm. The moody tone of the track and its bleak message is hardly the easiest thing to create a surrealist, dance-themed video to, but the end result feels bizarrely mesmerising, like a moody alternative to Half Alive’s 2018 viral hit ‘Still Feel’. The video does an excellent job of capturing the artist’s wonderfully weird alt-pop style and appeal, and continues to single out Maya as a one-of-a-kind artist with a lot to offer the UK music scene.
