We have been consistently raving about MEAN SEA since their re-emergence last year and the slew of excellent releases that have followed it, and fortunately, their latest single ‘Please Swim Back’ has given us the chance to continue doing so.
The track has a really upbeat, surfy feel to it that pairs excellently with the spiky, punky fundamentals of their sound, making for a release that feels both emphatic but insatiably catchy and melodic. From the energetic and engaging buzz of the vocals to their raucous instrumentals, to their thoughtful and often memorable lyrics, this feels like a really exciting time for the band. The sheer range of influences and styles that MEAN SEA infuse into their sound is awe inspiring, and this track sees them venture out onto the waves and into what is potentially their most expansive sound to date.
