Having emerged with a new sound and sense of focus with the release of last year’s ‘Run & Hide’, Nat Dempsey & The Near Strangers are the in the process of establishing themselves as one of the more exciting emerging bands from the musical hotbed that is Manchester, and are doing a stellar job of it.

Their second and most recent single is new release ‘Playground’, a track that continues to highlight their indie rock ethos and raw edge, following a narrative of someone who is struggling to find themselves and adapt to big city life having come from a small town. There is a really British sense of grit and guile that permeates the sound, conveying the bleakness and harsh realities of modern day Britain, while wrapping its cautionary tale around delectable melodies and catchy hooks. ‘Playground’ is another small glimpse at the potential that Nat Dempsey & The Near Strangers have, and another defiant step in the right direction.
