The track is the first release of 2022 for the emerging Newcastle outfit.
Newcastle outfit Palma Louca have been garnering acclaim and building a following as of late with their distinctive brand of shoegazy alternative rock. Alongside local contemporaries such as The Pale White and Cat Ryan, the outfit are helping to fly the flag for a Newcastle alternative scene that seems bursting with life and excitement as of late. The quintet have been touring the UK and winning over the hearts and minds of audience as of late, and are now ready to couple that with the release of their first single of the year, ‘Disappear’.
The track fizzes with a fun sense of energy and intrigue as it refuses to be penned in by sonic boundaries or genre convention. The track follows a narrative of someone spiraling through a rough time, and grows in intensity throughout as the stakes rise, making for a captivating listening experience that develops and grows more anxious and frenzied. ‘Disappear’ is a track steeped in tension and storytelling, and the performances from the outfit echos this seamlessly, proving an alt-rock assault that just seems to mutate and grow into something increasingly complex and memorable.
Regarding the song’s lyrical theme Joe reveals: “‘Disappear’ describes the downward spiral of a man who has taken the wrong path in life, turning him to addiction and depravity. The track sees the pressure build into a state of euphoric despair, culminating in a frantic end section that echoes the manic state of mind of a man who is living on the edge.”
Continuing, Joe states: “Sonically, we wanted the track to have a more raw and more human feel than our recent releases, as we felt this was more suited to the subject matter. This is reflected in the tribal verses beats and symphonic play out.”
