On his wonderfully composed and moving new single ‘Speak To Me In Silence’, Paul James Project reflects on the relationships that we have with our father’s and the shifting roles that we have in each others lives as time progresses and the unconditional love and caring for each other that comes along the way.
There is a soft and thoughtful allure to the sound that pairs really nicely with the rawness and emotionally charged, stripped-back nature of the sound, really allowing the resonating tone of the vocals and lyrics to take the spotlight and drawing every inch of emotion and heartfelt reverence from them. Time can often be the most cruel and unforgiving obstacle that we have to tackle in life, bringing with it grief as much as it does growth, and Paul grapples with these nuances and the bittersweet feelings that come with them effortlessly on this new release.
Paul reflects on the song’s emotional depth: “When you’re a kid, your dad can seem like a giant to you in so many ways. They’re your hero. It’s heartbreaking seeing them get sick and having those roles reversed. The song is an expression of those conflicting feelings, whilst honouring the magic of everything he meant. Miss you dad.”
