The track is part of the band’s celebrated recent EP Love On TV
A charming and engrossing collection of indie tracks that are packed full of personality and rousing appeal, new Pentire EP Being Underwater is a showcase of everything that that has made the band feel so revered and celebrated in recent times, blending modern pop with a personality-filled, nostalgic twist.
A track that encapsulates this appeal is the single ‘Being Underwater’, a stirring and heartfelt release that explores the feeling of finding out there is a whole wide world outside the towns that we grew up in. The idea of “being underwater” is a powerful concept that articulates how lonely and isolating it can be when you never venture out and embrace the rest of the world at large, and this makes for a really rousing and cathartic image that is more than matched by the emotional resonance of the sound.
“‘Being Underwater’ is about moving out to the city and finding life beyond your hometown.” Pentire’s Jack says. “Growing up and succumbing to real life can feel isolating and often as if you’ve been ‘underwater’ all these years. This song was written during a visit back to my family home, in a break from the new-found city life”.
